About

Jamey is a British Screenwriter and Development Consultant based in Los Angeles, where he currently balances original writing projects, development consulting work on UK and US Features, and writing Vertical Streaming Dramas for various platforms. In 2023, he moved from his native London to LA to undertake the Screenwriting MFA at USC's School of Cinematic Arts, graduating in 2025. He brings to his writing nearly two decades of development experience across British film and television. He was Development Executive at the BFI Film Fund (where he developed scripts that include Pride, Frank, Lady Macbeth and God's Own Country), and for Paul Abbott (Shameless, State of Play), VP Creative at Elton John’s Rocket Pictures, Development Producer at Simon Pegg and Nick Frost’s Stolen Picture and Head of Development for Oscar-winning filmmaker Steve McQueen (12 Years a Slave).Jamey read Psychology & Neuroscience at Oxford, planning to be a therapist before deciding fictional people were easier to help. He then did the Producing MA at the NFTS before beginning his career as assistant to director David Yates on the Harry Potter films, where he also wrote additional material and made his acting debut and swansong simultaneously with the pivotal role of “Newspaper Vendor” in Order of the Phoenix.Jamey is drawn to clever characters who are hopelessly underequipped for life. He writes across genres, usually with a vein of surreal comedy.

The Best Lobster Roll In The World
Feature
Dramedy / Coming-of-Age / Road Trip
After the sudden death of his boyfriend, manchild Benjy finds himself the unwilling passenger in a ‘borrowed’ Porsche driven by precocious teen Phoebe, who’s mourning the loss of her father. With stolen urns in their laps and bickering grandmothers in hot pursuit, the mismatched duo postpone grief on a chaotic road trip around Cape Cod.

Little Hope Gorge
Feature
Horror
Suicidal teen Niamh’s town is under attack from a demon who feasts on human joy – meaning she’s immune. Who knew depression was a superpower?

Lacuna
Hour-Long TV Pilot
Sci-Fi / Thriller
When his childhood bully vanished, nobody believed Ben’s eyewitness
account. Now in adulthood, Ben is offered possible vindication through a new technology that promises to access and verify memories. When the machine proves much more than a simulation, Ben finds himself in a reality-bending dilemma between undoing past tragedy or preventing future disaster.

Moth Boys
Hour-Long TV Pilot
Drama / Historical / LGBTQ+
London, 2003. JJ is finding life far harsher than the privilege promised by private school and Oxford. A chance encounter with a childhood friend - now an escort - introduces him to a clandestine world of upper class gay men, but how close can JJ fly to the flame of their seemingly endless hedonism without getting burned?

Kin Zoogie
Half-Hour TV Pilot
Comedy
When psychologist-in-training Freddie finds an abandoned dog that talks, he fears for his sanity – even more than he worries about his worth as a therapist; his insecurities have him illegally treating his close-knit friend group instead of actual patients. A comedy about broken people putting each other back together. And ambiguously telepathic dogs.

Stalkers:
A Love Story
Feature
Romantic Comedy
Sci-fi nerd Byron idolizes his favorite show’s creator. Rage-fueled Gabi stalks a handsome actor. When their obsessions start dating, Byron and Gabi are suddenly forced into each other’s lives.
